How should I wear my ‘Trapped in Love’ necklace?
Given its abt 4cm in diameter and chain length: 33”, TRAPPED is a big toy. It is a drastically dreamy, romantic piece of vintage. Focus on the awesome details of the pendant and hypnotized people away. Keep your top simple, gorgeously frills-free. Tats means no buttons in front. A white or black top with round, boat or V-neckline is all U need.
Will costume jewellery tarnish?
This question was being post to me at Zouk flea market. Answer: Yes! The truth is, U are not payin for real solid gold which is abt $50 per gram. U pay costume jewellery price, U live with costume jewellery limitations:) I wont bring back a piece of tarnish jewellery to DIVA, cos I know how little I paid for it.
People still enjoy costume jewellery very much cos its kinder to the pocket. To make yr costume jewellery work harder, make a little bit more effort in takin gd care of it. The common advice tat U properly know is not to spray perfume directly on jewellery. Its like when I wanna wear enamel bangles, I will spray perfume behide my kneecap or behide my earlopes. And not at my wrist.
The other gd habit to develop is to keep each piece of jewellery in small zip-lock bag. I found it really helps. No wonder people keep vege in them! Buy or keep the tiny zip-lock bag tat house yr medicine after U finish yr medication! Those are really handy and a gd way of re-cyclin! When I purchase from DIVA, I will also ask the sales person to put my jewellery in a zip-lock bag. When U ask, they will give:P Next, get a big box to keep yr treasure. Did U notice, when U dont have a proper place to store jewellery, they tend to go missin or hide in huge pile of mess. Eventually, U forget them totally! After a million years when U finally dig them out, they tarnished! U dont have to pay fancy price for cushion padded jewellery box. A big sturdy paper storage box from IKEA will be gd enough.
Another tip: I dont wear costume metallic chains durin hot weather. I will switch to my plastic chain, or even choose to wear my enamel bangles or dangle earrings instead. Perfume, body oil, water and sweat are not friends of costume jewellery.
How come I see spots on tis vintage?
Give me a new piece please? U notice we always say tat when we go shopping. I tell U, when U go to Australia and some other shoppin malls oversea. Don’t be surprise, if the sales lady bark back at U and answer: Why do U mean new? It is new, its not used! There are still many girls who cannot accept real vintage jewellery. They can accept jewellery tat is MADE TO LOOK like vintage, however they cannot accept flaws of the test of time. When I say: Flaws....it does not mean lousy craftmanship. But the fact tat U see spots on the jewellery. I think its perfectly ok with those spots or marks as long as it does not affect the aesthetics. When U are not ready to accept minor flaws, U might not be ready to appreciate real stuff:) However, its a choice, stick to wat U are comfortable with:)
How to wear enamel bangles and charm bracelet?
I adore enamel bangles becos of the richness of colour. I normally stack 2-3 together. For now, its like everything goes, U can mix gold with silver. U can even throw in leather straps for a bohemian look. Just yesterday I was wearin my silver THOMAS SABO serpent bangle with a pink COACH enamel bangle, plus two golden bangle with rhinestones from DENNI. The rule of thumb: Its ok to pile on bangles cos they are seen as design with patterns and lines... BUT not for charm bracelet. Notice each links tell a story (pictorial)....Some have a little story theme base on being: notty with guns, bullets and handcuffs. Others have a bunch of girlie related stuff like handbags, lipsticks and pinkie rings. The beauty of these bracelets lies in the distinctive charms themselves. Do not complicates things by havin multi links of charm bracelet, its just too messy lookin!
